Next we stayed at Verandah’s Apartments which is located just off the main street in Port Douglas.
The rooms were absolutely amazing. The unit we stayed in had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms a full kitchen, a barbecue, a patio and a beautiful pool.
The first night we went out for dinner with Bec and her mom. We went out to a pizza joint that had $10 pizzas for locals (locals just have to show ID or proof that they live in Port Douglas, and they get sweet deals throughout town). We each got a pizza and had a glass of champagne. It was really delicious.
On our second day staying at Verandahs, we decided to walk up flagstaff hill up to the look-out (which is the hill at the end of 4 mile beach that you may have seen in some of our previous photos). It was about a 15 minute walk, straight uphill. It was extremely hot and once we made it up to the top we sat for a while and drank lots of water. The view from the hill is amazing, straight down 4 mile beach where we had spent many days hanging out with Ollie and lounging by the ocean. There were some construction workers working on some building just in front of the lookout (it turns out that a house is being built there – hopefully it doesn’t ruin the view!).
Also on the top of the hill we saw a round statue indicating which direction major cities were and what their distances were in relation to flagstaff hill lookout. It was very interesting.
We also booked our Reef Tour the next day with a company called Silversonic. That`s what next blog will be about.
