Coffs Harbour

From Byron Bay we took a 3 hour bus ride down to Coffs Harbour. Upon arrival, a bus from the hostel came and picked us up. On the way we drove up a large hill in town and he showed us around. Coffs Harbour is a town with a large man made harbour to store boats from the waves. It also has a very large island that is used as a bird sanctuary. To the North there are long beaches with large waves.

On our first afternoon we took a tour with the hostel to walk up to the bird sanctuary for sunset. It was very cool to see the burrows that many of the birds used to lay their eggs.

The next day we took out a free surfboard from our Aussitel hostel and wandered down to the flagged area (the part of the beach that the lifeguards watch) and spent the day surfing. We both managed to stand up, but we did find it much harder than the lessons we took in Noosa.

Unfortunately we had to leave that evening at 3AM so we ended up staying up late and hanging out until a taxi came to get us. It was a nice little visit to  see another smaller coastal town.
