Melbourne

Once we had 3 days in Canberra, we moved on to Melbourne. It was approximately a 6 hour drive from Canberra. By the time we arrived most of our day was done. We ended up checking into our hotel and going for a swim. We stayed in St. Kilda, which is a part of Melbourne just off to the South East on the Ocean.

When driving through the city of Melbourne, it was clear that the city is “artsy”. Many of the buildings in Melbourne are quite different than an average building, with funky colours and shapes not seen in modern day building design. Even the bridges have interesting arches.

We found out quickly flies like to hang out near the beach…they swarmed us. We went for a quick swim before sunset. The sunset was beautiful. We haven’t been able to see a nice sunset in Australia since we were on the East coast most of the way. Now we were south enough to catch a really nice sunset!

We caught a late dinner and then called it a night as we planned a big second day – The Great Ocean Road.
